IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS 2019-10-08 09:20:00

Cork County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Final 2019 – Kilworth V Fr. O’Neills on Saturday October 12th in Pairc Uí Rinn @ 7:30pm.

The wait is nearly over. The countdown is almost up. Our highly anticipated county final appearance is just around the corner and the excitement has reached fever pitch! There is one place to be this Saturday night and that, of course is Pairc Uí Rinn for this year’s Cork County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Final between Kilworth and our long-time rivals Fr. O’Neills.

This will be the sides third year in a row meeting in the championship but Kilworth are hoping that this weekend will be a case of third time lucky after O’Neills came out on top on the previous two championship occasions. Throw-in for the game is at 7:30pm and we can’t wait! This weekend we are looking to claim our first ever premier intermediate hurling title and we’re all behind the players and their management in their quest to do so. We’re with you every step of the way. To our fantastic supporters, we want a sea of red and white in the stands on Saturday night. We want you decked out in your Kilworth attire and we want you to get behind our team. Let’s be their 16th man. Make sure those voices are ready to be heard. Roar and cheer on our men in red. As you can imagine, a large crowd is expected to turn out on Saturday so please be sure to arrive in plenty of time. Get your spot and enjoy the game. It’s sure to be a cracker!

On behalf of the club and all of the supporters, we would like to wish the management team of Shane Tobin, Damien McNamara, John Hegarty, Aidan Kenny, Will Twomey, Darren Kenny and Seán Carey the very best of luck on Saturday. You have all put in a tremendous amount of hard work and effort all year in order to get the lads to this stage of the competition. It’s been a long hog since the cold, wet nights of January and this final has been a long time coming but we hope that you can now go one step further and bring home the Séamus Long Cup to the proud village of Kilworth. To the panel of players, we wish you all the very best of luck on Saturday night. We have no doubt that each of you, will give it your all. We hope that your training, commitment and hard work is rewarded with a big win this weekend. You deserve it. We are all behind you and we firmly believe you can do it. You have the talent, you have the skill so have the belief to go out there on Saturday and do it! We are just 60 minutes away from possible glory, let’s hope that this is our year. Let’s hope that when the clock strikes 9:30pm on Saturday night, we are celebrating a historic win. Finally, I’d like to finish off with this brilliant poem which Joe Aherne Jnr put together this week ahead of the county final. It sums up perfectly what this final means and it reads like this:

CILL UIRD ABÚ

To every man who filled the shirt,
Through all the years. Glory. Hurt.
To all the people who kept the faith,
Players, mentors, men at the gate.

To all supporters of our club,
Here, Oz, The States, the pub!
Our people spread far and wide,
We know your with us, we feel your pride.

To all the Kilworth men departed,
Back to when this great club started.
To Fred and John Joe, one more shove,
Your dreams being realised from above.

To all the boys and girls around,
Be red, be white, be really loud,
Shout, ‘COME ON THE VILLAGE, CILL UIRD ABÚ’
Down the line you’ll be there too!

To Mac and Shane and selectors all,
God knows you’ve hurled a lot ‘a ball.
The best of luck in the County Final,
Let’s go, come on boys! One in, All in.

THANK YOU

On behalf of the club we would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped out in decorating the village over the weekend. It looks absolutely fantastic and it is a credit to everyone involved. It has created a great buzz around the place and it really has got everyone hyped for the final. Here’s hoping the red and white is up there to stay for a long time to come! Kilworth Abú!

We would also like to thank everyone who has sent us kind messages and phone calls over the past few weeks and days wishing us the best of luck in the final. They are greatly appreciated by the club and the team. And we hope luck is on our side on Saturday!

CONGRATULATIONS KILARA ÓG

On behalf of the club we would like to congratulate the Kilara Óg minor hurlers on winning their county semi-final last Saturday afternoon. They enjoyed a great win on the score line of 2-13 to 2-7 and they have now set up a county final clash with Kilavullen, a repeat of the North Cork Final only a few weeks ago. It’s sure to be a cracker! The game is provisionally fixed for Sunday October 20th in Castletownroche @ 3:30pm. We would like to wish all of the management and players the very best of luck. CORK GAA CLUB DRAW

It’s that time of year again! It’s time to renew your membership for the new year of the Cork GAA Club Draw. If you haven’t joined before, then now is the time to become a new member and you could win big just like some of our previous winners! You can join for the year at a cost of €100 (10 draws + 2 free) or you can choose to pay monthly/ quarter yearly, etc.

MONEY TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT

Remember that this draw is vital for raising funds for our club and it is very important that it is supported by as many people as possible, especially people from within our own club and village. By joining today you could become a winner just like Finbarr McCarthy, Mary Walsh, John O’Brien and Ned O’Brien who were recent price winners in a Cork GAA Club Draw. Not only could you be a winner but you could also help Kilworth GAA raise vital funds towards the future development of our Club House and pitch facilities. Every cent that goes towards the development will help to make it happen but we cannot do that alone. We need you help and by joining the Cork GAA Club draw, you are doing so. Please spread the word about the draw, both you and the club can become big winners from it! If you would like to join then please contact any club officer today.

VOLUNTEERS

In order to collect the money for the draw, we also need help and volunteers to come on board. A committee of ten or twelve people to collect money from just ten people each would make a huge difference and it would offer a great helping hand to the club. If you are willing to get involved and help out in any small way at all, then please let us know. All help will be greatly appreciated and we would love to hear from you! All money must be paid on or before Monday October 21st 2019.
